Many Deaf people have greatly influenced and changed both American culture and Deaf culture. To increase your understanding of Deaf culture and the history of Deaf culture, you will be expected to research one famous Deaf person and write a 2- page paper about your findings. Students will work in the library from 2/3-2/7.
You will present a 2 minute overview of your person, listing 5 relevant facts in ASL written in English & ASL gloss. You will tape and record it on your flashdrive.
Follow MLA formatting (double-spaced, 12 pt., indent for new paragraphs)
Consider the following:
How were they raised? How were they educated? Tell me about their family.
How did this person impact Deaf culture? Hearing culture?
What were their greatest contributions to society?
How did their childhood/upbringing influence them?
What can we learn from them today?
Students who turn in papers by Wednesday, 2/5 will benefit from teacher editing.
